We sat down with many of the Riverside nurses who serve the Middle Peninsula community to learn what drives them to help bring health and wellness to our patients and residents. Here’s what Jessica Everett, LPN of the Riverside Convalescent Center – Mathews had to say.
What do you find most rewarding in the practice of nursing?
I work the same hall every day. I get to know them personally. I get to know them. I love them.
What do you find most challenging/difficult in the practice of nursing?
When your people’s outcome doesn’t end well, especially when you spend so much time with them. You grow attached.
Can you describe what it means to be a Riverside nurse in your own words?
Being a Riverside nurse is like being part of a family.
Why do you think nursing is still viewed as the most trusted profession?
Because nurses will do anything for anybody. I’ll stop and help people in parking lots if I have do.
How do you balance the art and science of nursing and focus on caring instead of curing?
You can’t cure everything but you can always show you care.
